The Mighty Blackfoot
The Blackfoot River has something for everyone. Scenery, fishing, flora and fauna, and fabulous whitewater during the early summer. Pangaea is Montana's premier company permitted to run the Blackfoot River all summer long.

Family Whitewater
Some of the river's best rapids lie three miles downstream of Russell Gates FAS near the Bear Creek bridge pilings. Enjoy roller-coaster drops with big rocks and high waves. Most drops are followed by big pools, allowing time to swim and sight-see. Class I and Class II water are at late season flows, but when the mountain snows start melting, the Blackfoot River bumps up to Class III during runoff.

A Unique Gem
The Blackfoot is a unique gem to our area. In May and June the Blackfoot is a rafters paradise: scenery, fun whitewater and history. The Blackfoot River offers a wide variety of adventure, from gentle scenic floats to wild whitewater fun. Enjoy this famous river from a raft, catered lunch included on Full Day trips. Our Recommendation
The Clark Fork River, 45 minutes west of Missoula, Montana offers the most consistent and exciting whitewater in Western Montana, that's why Pangaea's Clark Fork River trips leave our ranch daily. But the Blackfoot River is still relatively "undiscovered" because of the smaller volume of water. Since the Blackfoot is not as popular as our Alberton Gorge Clark Fork River trips, we must honor a six person minimum number to make the Blackfoot River Trip a go. That doesn't mean you have to have six people in your group, it just takes a full boat of at least six people to make the trip from all reservations that day. Or you can upgrade your trip to a private affair and all minimum numbers are waived ($250 minimum).

Meet Time

9:30 am (Mountain Time): Remember the 1 hour time change between Idaho and Montana!

End Time

Expect to be done and back to your vehicle between 3:30 - 4:30 pm (Montana time) depending on water levels and group size.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel or change your reservation two weeks before your trip. Within two weeks you are responsible for 100% of the total cost. We raft rain or shine.

Lunch is Provided

But please eat a good breakfast. Lunch is usually served around 1:30 pm and includes

What to bring

Shoes or sandals that can get wet and stay on (no flip-flops or Crocks)
Dry clothes to change into after the trip and towel

Swimsuit or clothes that can get wet (avoid cotton) if you plan to swim, synthetic materials work the best (rayon, nylon, spandex, etc.

After you arrive at the Pangaea Ranch, the rest of the driving is left to us. Pangaea River Rafting will drive you to the river and back to your car parked safely at our ranch after the trip is over. The best part... the river shuttle is absolutely FREE!
